"I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, Sir, because I'm not myself you see."
-Alice
For some reason, I just can't stop being inspired by Alice.
Every time I pull out my old copy of Carroll's masterpiece, those old bizarre black and white illustrations get right into my brain and I have to sit down yet again, to pay homage to Alice immortal. I have painted her nearly 20 times and I still can't get over her. I was going trough my archives and I decided I wanted to do a little post - in Adoration of Alice - with all of my Alice pieces in one place ^_^

Thank you.
Each one is such a magnificent little treasure! Some day I've got to own one of your amazing cameos, they are just breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteI've had an unstoppable love for Alice since I was a child, falling in love as you do, every time I pick up the Original B&W illustrated version, or many of the alternative artist's & writer's versions I've collected over the years! I, without a doubt, think YOU should someday place your illustrations & paintings everywhere one pops up in Lewis Carroll's stories!! I'd love to see a series of Mab Graves works that coincide with the story. Your Cameos of Alice are utterly amazing -so full of love & life, I've begun to see *them* in my mind now whenever I think of her & her wild adventures! Also...I can't wait for the day I acquire my 1st "Alice" Cameo from you! Then my 2nd, my 3rd, 4th, etc... ;)
ReplyDeleteOh Mab! Each and every piece is magnificent. Seeing Alice come to life in your work is just incredible. I have always loved Alice, loved Wonderland, loved it all. I'm with Simone, one of my fondest wishes is one of your Alice cameos. Someday! Thank you so much for sharing, dearest, it truly makes my day a much brighter one to be able to visually feast on your work! <3 <3
ReplyDelete~Jenn (SoulsFireDesigns, this is my other acct lol)
these are soo amazing i'm sad i missed out on buying one your work is beautiful and just my style
ReplyDeleteI covet all of these. Her expression in her eyes is captured so much more dramatically than most drawings that attempt to emulate the Disney-fied version of what is actually a rather dark and twisted tale.
ReplyDeleteYour works is fabulous and wonderful^^ Congratulations
